Plate 178:  A close-up of the "dollhouse" scale on the architect's ruler
(This plate added OCT 2003)

This is the 1/12 "dollhouse" scale of the architect's ruler, which was first shown in Plate 177. The markings on the scale at the top left subdivide one inch into 12 major parts, each part representing one scale inch. Each scale inch is further subdivided into 4 minor parts, or scale quarter inches.

A scale inch has a length of one-twelfth (1/12) of an actual inch, and a scale quarter inch has a length of one forty-eighth( 1/48) of an actual inch.
