Plate 169:  Building a locomotive service yard, Part 35:  the "place holder" for a future yard point
(This plate added OCT 2003)

This photo, taken against the photographer's white backdrop panel, shows where a curved track section "holds the place" where a second yard point with a sub-surface point motor will be installed when the time is right. The new yard point will provide an identical curve to the one seen here, while creating a straight spur that will extend to the upper right. This will result in a three-spur yard.
