Plate 124:  Trial-fitting the roadbed for a proposed locomotive service yard, Part 2
(This plate added OCT 2003)

This view, looking southwest, shows a spur track that has been loosely laid upon the temporary plywood roadbed of the proposed locomotive service yard. The spur extends from the curved side of the switch seen in Plate 123. The "Flying Scotsman" locomotive, seen head-on, is standing stationary upon the spur, ready to begin track tests.

The white stanchion at the right is a signpost indicating the position of the Hornby uncoupling ramp that was described in Plates 95 through 98. (When you purchase a Hornby uncoupling ramp, the signpost is included in the purchase.)
