Plate 187:  Installing a surface-mounted point motor with an extension arm, Part 2

Here we see the southward ("upward" in the photo) scroll-cut plywood addition that was traced from the paper template shown in Plate 186. Installing this addition was a fairly quick job, because no baseboard columns were required for support.

The plywood addition was simply screwed onto the existing roadbed along the north girder (observe the screw at the lower left of the addition and the other one near the point). Additional rigidity was provided by a small new (concealed) girder that reaches to the existing roadbed of the service yard (observe the screw at the upper right that pins the new addition to the concealed girder).
