Plate 160:  Building a locomotive service yard, Part 26:  inserting the mounting tabs of a point motor into the underside of a point
(This plate added OCT 2003)

If the builder elects to use the rectangular cut-out method for mounting a Hornby R8014 Mark 2 point motor under the roadbed, it is necessary to attach the point motor directly to the underside of the point by means of mounting-tabs on the point motor. In Plate 159, four mounting tabs can be clearly seen protruding upward from the frame of an R8014 point motor. These four tabs are positioned to fit exactly into four little slots in every Hornby point. These slots are visible in Plate 154 if you look very closely at the extreme ends of the two long sleepers (American usage: "ties") under the point-blades.

Here we see the entire track assembly of the service yard turned topside-down, while the four mounting tabs of an R8014 point motor have been inserted into the four slots of the long sleepers.
