Plate 152:  Building a locomotive service yard, Part 18:  a clear view of a two-spur service yard
(This plate added OCT 2003)

The rough-cut plywood roadbed has been removed for trimming, and one of the photographer's white backdrops has been placed under the tracks of the service yard. The spur switch creates two spurs at the upper right of the picture.

The straight side of the switch connects to a section of curved track, while the curved side of the switch connects to a section of straight track. This arrangement results in two parallel spur tracks.

--more--
The curved track section emerging from the switch at the upper right is really a "place holder" for a future switch. The future switch, when installed, will result in a total of three parallel spur tracks, as originally planned in Plate 129.
