Plate 40:  The second concept model at the exact center of the layout with an HVR2 schematic
(This plate added SEP 2003)

Similar to the view in Plate 39. In this view, a computer-generated schematic of the layout is shown in front of the north face of the second concept model.

The schematic was developed with the aid of HVR2 ("Hornby Virtual Railway 2"). HVR2, a software product, permits the Hornby layout designer to test various track plans under extremely realistic operational conditions.

Note that the schematic contains some spur tracks that are not in the concept model. The layout designer uses HVR2 liberally as a planning aid. Subsequent plates show bold elaborations beyond the plan seen here.
