Plate 263:  A revised track plan
(This plate added NOV 2003)

In the month that has passed since we drew up the last track plan, we have been doing a lot of reading about canals: their geography, their history, their operation, and exactly how they co-existed with railways. The new track plan (shown here) was designed to "make room" for a realistic multi-level lock-equipped canal (a subsequent plate will show exactly what we mean).

The accompanying diagram is color-coded to provide guidance in ordering new track and point-motors. The pink highlight indicates additions for which we already possess the spare track. The green highlight indicates what we need to order at this time. The dotted-red outline shows future additions. The new arrangement (as we will see) provides room for a realistic barge canal with a lock. The notes in red at the bottom enumerate the Hornby parts that make up the new order.
