| In this view, the progress of construction of the descending spiral can be seen at the left, directly above the 1-pound claw hammer. The light-colored square object projecting toward the left (south) just above the hammer is part of a cantilever beam that supports the descending outer spiral. See Plate 83 for a definition of cantilever beams. |
