Plate 75:  Four combinations of key lighting and fill lighting with the Black Castle as a backdrop for militaria
(This plate added APR 2004)

In each of the four photos contained in this plate, five items have been displayed with the Black Castle acting as a backdrop. The setting has been entirely draped in black velvet cloth, similar to the cloth used by jewelers in their display cases. The four photos were taken from identical angles.

Index to the four views in this plate:

View 1:  key light off, fill light (flood) on
View 2:  key light on, fill light off
View 3:  key light on, fill light (flood) on
View 4:  key light off, fill light on
View 1:

This photograph, at 1.2 megapixel resolution, was illuminated by a 100-watt floodlamp fill light. The overhead key light was switched off.

A necklace of cultured pearls has been suspended from the battlement, with the necklace's pendant resting upon the cloth under the entrance arch.

Four items of militaria are displayed in front of the entrance arch. From left to right, the military items are

1.  a cap badge of an unidentified British Army regiment, most likely a regiment of fusiliers,
2.  a cap badge of The Border Regiment,
3.  a cap badge of The Cheshire Regiment, and
4.  a uniform pin of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
