Plate 73:  Repairing the damaged corbels, Part 7: all the corbels have been repaired
(This plate added APR 2004)

This view of the Black Castle shows that all 39 corrective strips have been glued to the faces of the damaged corbels. Observe also that strips of manila board, 3/16-inch wide, have been glued to the decorative molding of the entrance arch.

The molding of the entrance arch was made from the same foam-sandwich material as the corbels, so corrective facing was required around the edges. The edges of the highly visible crenellated battlement, which is also made from foam-sandwich board, had been previously fitted with manila stripping, so corrective stripping was not required for the crenellations.
