Plate 56:  Constructing the Black Castle, Part 22: looking down upon the wall-walk of the corbelled-out battlement
(This plate added MAR 2004)

This view of the corbelled-out battlement shows most of the wall-walk, which now overhangs the vertical faces of the entrance arch and the bastions.

Three corbels, which are required to support the overhanging battlement, can be seen at the face of the left bastion. Many more such corbels will be required to support the long corbelled-out battlement.
