Plate 32:  The photographer experiments with fill-lighting, Part 2: a formation of toy soldiers in a "long view" shot
(This plate added FEB 2004)

HIS plate is similar to Plate 31 except that the photos were taken with the tripod legs fully extended, in order to provide a "long view" from above. The photos in Plate 31 were taken with the tripod legs half-retracted, thereby positioning the camera directly in front of the display.
A significant difference between this "long shot" from above and the close-up seen in Plate 31 is the brilliant reflections of the key light (the 100-watt flood) that can be seen in the various musical instruments of the marching bandsmen. Observe the gleam of the bugles in the last two ranks, and the glaring highlight in the shell of the bass drum in the front rank.
