Plate 6:  The wall-mounted lighting fixture for the small-display location
(This plate added FEB 2004)

HE lighting fixture shown in the accompanying picture was originally installed in a photographic darkroom. The darkroom has since been put to other uses, having been superseded by computer software.
After the darkroom was put out of service, the fixture was moved to a new location in order to provide general illumination for the use of a binding machine (see Plate 1 ).

For everyday use, this fixture is equipped with a 60-watt incandescent bulb. For small-display photographic sessions, the fixture is operated for short periods with a high-intensity floodlamp. The illumination sessions with a 100-watt floodlamp must be brief, because the fixture is safety-rated for only a 60-watt lamp.

Plates 2 and 5, respectively, show how the illumination differs between an ordinary 60-watt bulb and a floodlamp.

The location of this light fixture is known as the key light position.
