Plate 33:  The real thing! Looking east from a pedestrian overpass at Trestle Lane in Cobleskill, New York, USA, along the Canadian Pacific Railway tracks

This photograph, taken in June, 2003, shows actual track ballast on a working railroad. The view is toward the east along the superbly maintained tracks of the Canadian Pacific Railway (formerly the Delaware and Hudson). Note the brown color of the ties (British usage: sleepers).
