Plate 257:  The R965 is now exclusively a source of traction current
(This plate added NOV 2003)

This picture of the R965, with no wires attached to the AC binding posts, emphasizes the fact that the sole responsibility of this unit is now traction-current control.

Note: traction current is roughly equivalent to traction power. Strictly speaking, current refers to the motion of electric charges, while power refers to the motion of the charges as well as the motive force (known as voltage) that causes the motion.
