Plate 66: Lighting effects with the Black Castle, Part 2: low-angle view of the battlement

The illumination in these views is identical to the two views in Plate 65. The camera has now been dropped to a lower angle and aimed squarely at the battlement.
Observe that the battlement virtually disappears in the right-hand picture, in which the overhead key light has been switched off. The highly reflective breastplates of the soldiers reveal the presence of the crenellations, but the merlons are invisible. |
