Plate 90:  View looking east at the roadbed on the mid-level north girder
(This plate added SEP 2003)

This view shows the plywood roadbed upon the mid-level north girder and the new mid-level curve extending to the south. A straight "spur track" can be seen at the bottom of the picture (by spur track we mean a dead-end track that branches away from another track).

The spur track emerges from the straight side of a left-hand point (British usage). The curved side of the same point connects to the new mid-level curve. The tender of the "Flying Scotsman" locomotive is standing directly upon this point. The spur track that you see in this picture was later removed, and the point was replaced by a curved track section.
