Plate 47:  View looking southeast with the upper roadbed temporarily elevated
(This plate added SEP 2003)

In this view, the four sections of plywood roadbed for the inner loop have been cut out from the "quarter panels" by means of a saber saw fitted with a scroll blade.

The four sections of roadbed have been temporarily elevated from the baseboard, lying loosely upon a uniformly-sized set of books ("The Epic of Flight" from Time-Life Books). Each book stands at a height of 11-3/4 inches. The height of the permanent elevated roadbed will be 12 inches ( representing a height of 76 feet in Hornby train scale).
