Plate 62:  Constructing the Black Castle, Part 28: the crenellated battlement extends over both bastions
(This plate added MAR 2004)

The crenellated battlement has now been extended over the front walls of both bastions. The corbels are keeping pace with the crenellations.

The figure posing before the entrance arch represents a King of England from the Fifteenth Century, namely, King Henry V of the House of Lancaster, who ruled from 1413 to 1422.

The architecture of the Black Castle is characteristic of this period in history.
