Plate 106:  Creating boxes for unboxed items, Part 19: the three-way separator is placed into the box
(This plate added AUG 2004)

In Plate 103, we saw a three-way separator, the purpose of which was to provide storage compartments for three toy soldiers. Here we see the separator actually placed inside the box.

The separator is not fastened to the box. The confining dimensions of the box, combined with the natural springiness of the separator's construction, causes the separator to assume the shape of two parallel partitions, thereby dividing the interior of the box into three compartments of equal size.
